Introduction to Plastic Surgery Trends

Are you curious regarding trends in plastic surgery? Look no further than 2022 American Society of Plastic Surgeon’s survey that was sent to 11,000 practicing plastic surgeons. This blog was intended to shed light on the newest trends surrounding plastic surgery.

Generational divisions are based on the age of clients and include: Baby Boomers, aged 55 to 69, Generation X, aged 40 to 54, Millennials, aged 30 to 39, and Generation Z, aged 19 to 29. When it comes to cosmetic surgery, generation X accounted for 45 % of cases and Baby Boomers accounted for 30 % of cases. Less inclined cosmetic surgery clients included Millennials with only 16% of cases and Generation X a mere 6%!

The most likely group to get cosmetic surgery, Generation X, underwent the following procedures in order of prevalence.

Their utilization of minimally invasive procedures demonstrated a staggering 253 % increase in cases from only 2 years earlier.

Top procedures included neuromodulator injections, commonly called “Botox,” and dermal fillers, which jumped 65 percent and 70 percent in male patients respectively since 2019. Sclerotherapy, the most common treatment for improving the appearance of varicose and spider veins on the legs, saw a rise of 54 percent in male patients from 2019.

In 2022, patients spent up to $26 billion on cosmetic procedures and surgeries. The average surgeon’s fee ranged from $3,000 to $10,000 for invasive surgeries and $500 to 2000 for minimally invasive procedures.
